Do you accept my insurance plan?
Insurance has become confusing for many people, as
there are many different dental insurance and reimbursement mechanisms
that companies use to contribute towards their employee's dental
care.
If you have a dental insurance plan, you are justifiably
proud of it and how hard you have worked to gain this important
benefit for your family.
Many people often ask why their plan does not cover
all services that we may recommend to them. Generally speaking,
we find that most plans vary widely from some that cover only limited,
basic services to those that will help pay for today's more advanced,
modern dental treatment alternatives.
Generally speaking, coverage levels of a dental insurance
plans depend on what level of dental plan has been selected by your
employer. They vary widely, usually depending on what your employer
is willing to pay for. "Traditional" plans are often more
generous and flexible, while PPO's and dental HMO's or "capitation"
plans are less generous and limited in scope.
At Meadowbrook Family Dentists, we will do our best
to help you with any questions you might have about your dental
plan coverage.
We participate with Blue Cross, Blue Shield of Michigan
and Delta Dental Plan of Michigan's Traditional
Dental coverages. These plans fit with our philosophy to accept
any dental insurance plan that allows you to go to a Dentist of
your own choice. For this reason, we do not sign our office
up in dental plans that require you to go to a dentist on a restricted
list.
We believe that the patient- doctor relationship should
be the first priority in choosing a dentist, and that third-party
coverage, while obviously important to you, should be a secondary
consideration in obtaining appropriate health care for your family.
We will be glad to submit any forms to your dental
plan for you. There is no extra charge for this service. You are
responsible for any copayments or fees not covered by your dental
plan provider. We will always attempt to discuss fees with you before
treatment is started.
Medicare and Medicaid
There is no coverage under Medicare
for dental services.
We do not participate with state Medicaid
programs.
